Hello World!
It’s February 2015, and I’m excited to kick off this blog as a way to track my professional journey and, along the way, share what I’ve learned with others. For me, writing is a way to reflect, document my progression, and hopefully provide some useful insights for product managers, recent graduates, and anyone who stumbles across this space.
I’ve been fortunate to dive headfirst into the world of product management, especially within the fast-paced e-commerce sector. E-commerce in Turkey has grown exponentially, and I was lucky to be among the earliest product managers, shaping a market that’s now booming with innovation and competition.
A Look Back: E-commerce in Turkey
When I first started, Turkey’s e-commerce landscape was in its infancy. Now, we see industry giants, but back then, there was a lot of experimentation and learning on the fly. The experience was invaluable and set the foundation for what I’m doing today. I’ve had the chance to work with some of the largest players in the market, and the growth has been staggering.
The Present: Payments and Fraud Management at Viagogo
Currently, I’m working at Viagogo.com, where I focus on Payments and Fraud Management. If you’ve ever tried to navigate the archaic banking systems that underpin global payments, you’ll understand my surprise at how old-fashioned some processes still are! But that’s what makes this role so exciting—finding ways to streamline and innovate in spaces that are due for a transformation.
I’m especially drawn to the fintech side of things, where there’s so much potential to revolutionize how people handle payments, security, and fraud prevention. It’s an area that’s evolving fast, and being at the center of it is thrilling.
What’s Next?
I plan to continue writing here, sharing more about what I’m learning in product management, particularly in the payments and fintech space. Whether you’re an aspiring product manager, a recent grad, or someone interested in the fintech world, I hope this blog will be a place where you can gain insight and follow along with my journey.
Feel free to drop a message or reach out. There’s more to come, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you!
